Johan had a big project. As a primary school teacher, he wanted his pupils to get to know each other before the start of the schoolyear. So he had in mind to organize a summer camp with his future class. But this required Amelia’s help.
– Do you think we can manage?
– With you for the girls and me for the boys, no problem.
“Oh alright then! Why not after all? I’ll take a few days off.”
– I love you.
– I love you too. It is good practice for me, right? Taking care of children…
No later said than done. Seven children to handle for a few days in Great Bear.
The beginnings were a bit shy. Twin sisters Piper and Pippa played together.
Hector laughed his head off on his own on the swing.
While the monitors wrote a shopping list.
Soon, groups were forming. Jessica tried to gossip with Candice.
But decided she was too stupid to understand.
Candice turned to the other misfit of the lot: Pippa. But she was playing with a weird, creepy-looking doll.
Drake and Timothy befriended each other and after playing catch for a while, they started a game of rock-paper-scissors.
Which Tim won hands down.
Piper had deserted her sister for Jessica’s company.
As night fell, our two monitors had to start preparing dinner, with Candice and Hector in their way during the whole process.
Johan had a hard time with the smoking barbecue.
But finally they were fed and Johan played a few songs during an evening gathering.
Ok, his guitar skills left a lot to be desired.
The next day, they took the boat. Hector being his helpful self, he volunteered to row with Johan.
Tim seems to enjoy himself, while Drake looks… blasé and bored, as usual.
The girls’ small boat followed not far behind, with only Pippa left on the shore, being hydrophobic. There was not enough space in the boats anyway…
Amelia and Piper were steering.
Jessica was curious and Candice was scared. Nothing out of the ordinary.
And Pippa built sandcastles on the beach.
They rowed for the whole afternoon.
Then had an invigorating dinner in a pub.
Jessica making fun of Drake.
And Drake retaliating.
That night was scary stories night.
On the second day, they went for a walk in the woods.
“Drake, don’t go too fast.”
The goal was a viewpoint and a cascade in the middle of the woods.
Johan lost his footing climbing the steps, which made Amelia laugh.
Then they were finally all up the cliff.
Jessica pouted at Piper for whatever reason.
– I think they’ll make us jump from here now.
– What?! No, I can’t swim!
– Don’t worry, I’ll catch you so that you don’t drown.
– But… I don’t want to jump!
– I’m kidding, stoopid. We’re not going to jump.
– Hey, that’s not fun!
very fun
