Erik lost his father in the same event in which Laurie lost both his parents. He relates a lot to Laurie and holds on to the last promise he made his father to “look after the boy”. Even if that means doing the dirty job himself.

He has been in a relationship with his childhood friend and neighbor Cordelia, but it didn’t work out.
